Tanah Rata Election results

Congratulations to independant Ho Yip Kap who beat out BN and the opposition. This is the same ex-headmaster/teacher who came to school in his 4-wheel-drive 'kebun' landrover everyday. It's good to see a familiar and 'real' local tanah rata personality win for once.

Tanah Rata had an interesting three-cornered battle that saw both BN and opposition losing out.

It was won by independent candidate Ho Yip Kap with a majority of 575 votes.
Ho managed to get 3,926 votes beating BN's Chai Kok Lim who got 3,351 votes. DAP's Go Mong Nging secured 2,043 votes.

Ho, 56, is a retired headmaster who resigned from the MCA a day before nomination day.
"My friends had asked me to contest and I gave it a try since we were not happy with the MCA candidate in our area. I never expected to win."

He said knowing the people in Tanah Rata personally had helped him and he would do his best to improve the livelihood of the farmers there.

Ho is the only independant who won the election. This guy has really got to be someone who knows the grassroot extreamly well. Where else can you find an independant candidate managed to garner enough votes to actually win. I read from the news there is an independant candidate who failed to get a single vote. I wonder where was his own vote?
