Congratulations to independant Ho Yip Kap who beat out BN and the opposition. This is the same ex-headmaster/teacher who came to school in his 4-wheel-drive 'kebun' landrover everyday. It's good to see a familiar and 'real' local tanah rata personality win for once.

It was won by independent candidate Ho Yip Kap with a majority of 575 votes.
Ho managed to get 3,926 votes beating BN's Chai Kok Lim who got 3,351 votes. DAP's Go Mong Nging secured 2,043 votes.Ho, 56, is a retired headmaster who resigned from the MCA a day before nomination day.
"My friends had asked me to contest and I gave it a try since we were not happy with the MCA candidate in our area. I never expected to win."He said knowing the people in Tanah Rata personally had helped him and he would do his best to improve the livelihood of the farmers there.
